At Newell’s Travel, we love hearing about the unforgettable adventures our team experience across the globe — and this journey through Ontario, Canada, is one that truly captures the spirit of discovery. From the thundering majesty of Niagara Falls to the cultural treasures of Ottawa, this trip offered a perfect blend of nature, history, and vibrant city life.
Here is our Travel Consultant Annie from our St Austell’s branch story…
First Stop: Niagara Falls
“Our journey through Ontario began with an unforgettable start at Niagara Falls. After landing in Toronto with Air Canada, we headed straight to the falls, ready to experience one of the world’s most iconic natural wonders.
Checking into the Sheraton Fallsview Hotel, we were instantly mesmerised by the panoramic view of the cascading water from our room — a truly breath-taking welcome to Canada. The excitement continued with a helicopter flight over the falls, offering a bird’s-eye view of the thundering Horseshoe Falls and the mist rising into the sky. Seeing it from above was something we’ll never forget.
Exploring Niagara’s History:
Of course, no trip to Niagara is complete without getting a little wet! Our boat tour took us right up to the roaring water — loud, powerful, and completely exhilarating. We also explored Niagara’s fascinating history at the Niagara Parks Power Station and enjoyed the immersive Niagara Power: The Story Takes Flight experience, which brought the story of the falls to life in a dynamic and memorable way.
Next, we headed to Toronto — Canada’s largest and most diverse city. The energy was infectious. We explored on foot during a guided walking tour, discovering hidden gems and local stories along the way. A highlight of our time here was dining at the CN Tower, where we enjoyed a delicious meal paired with spectacular 360-degree views over the glittering city skyline.
Kingston Adventures
Leaving the city behind, we made our way to the charming and historic town of Kingston, Canada’s first capital. Staying at the Holiday Inn Waterfront, we loved waking up to the tranquil views of Lake Ontario. Kingston was full of surprises — from exploring the historic Fort Henry and touring the SS Keewatin, a beautifully restored Edwardian steamship, to delving into the eerie past of the Kingston Penitentiary. We even joined a ghost walking tour one evening, lanterns in hand, hearing spine-tingling tales of hauntings and mysteries.
Scenic Flights & Final Stop
To top it all off, we took another helicopter ride — this time over the breath-taking 1000 Islands. The sight of tiny green islands dotted along the St. Lawrence River was absolutely magical.
Our final stop was Ottawa, Canada’s capital. Elegant and full of character, it offered the perfect finale to our adventure. We took a Hop-On Hop-Off bus tour around the city’s grand landmarks, including Parliament Hill, before crossing the river to visit the incredible Canadian Museum of History in Gatineau. The exhibits and architecture were both world-class.
Cultural Highlights
We also visited the National Gallery of Canada, home to an impressive mix of Canadian and Indigenous art — and, of course, snapped a photo with the famous Maman spider sculpture outside! Another highlight was our guided tour of the Royal Canadian Mint, where we learned how Canada’s coins — including commemorative and collector’s editions — are crafted with such skill and precision.
A Trip to Remember
From start to finish, this trip was a perfect mix of adventure, culture, and relaxation. From the thunderous beauty of Niagara Falls to the lively streets of Toronto, the heritage charm of Kingston, and the cultural heart of Ottawa, every destination offered its own unique magic. Canada truly has something for everyone — and this journey left us eager to return and explore even more.”
