Recently, one of our team had the incredible opportunity to attend the CLIA River Cruise Conference in Budapest – and it was nothing short of unforgettable. Here’s what Olivia had to say about this once-in-a-lifetime adventure:
“I had the opportunity to travel to Budapest for the CLIA River Cruise Conference, an experience that exceeded every expectation. Over three nights, I was lucky enough to stay aboard two stunning river cruise ships – the AmaSonata and TUI Skyla – while also exploring vessels from Viva, Riviera, and Scenic.
Arrival in Beautiful Budapest:
My journey began with a comfortable flight from Bristol to Budapest with Ryanair, and upon arrival, we checked into the beautiful Budapest Marriott Hotel. The hotel overlooked the River Danube, and from our window, the views were simply breathtaking. Sitting on the ledge by the window, enjoying room service and watching the river sparkle at night, was such a special moment.
The CLIA Conference:
The CLIA Conference itself was fantastic – as a travel agent with a real passion for river cruising, it was so valuable to meet operators and experts from across the industry. It deepened my understanding and love for what makes river cruising such a unique way to travel.
A Magical Evening Aboard AmaSonata:
My first evening aboard the AmaSonata was magical. From the double balcony cabins to the fine dining experience with wine pairings, every detail felt luxurious. The staff were warm and attentive, and the live music in the lounge was the perfect end to the night.
Exploring More River Cruise Gems:
The next day brought ship visits to Viva, Riviera, and Scenic. Each had its own charm – Viva’s modern, intimate design; Riviera’s timeless elegance; and Scenic’s stunning luxury and breathtaking Captain’s Suite. Sitting on the top deck of Scenic, sipping champagne while taking in the views of Budapest, was a true pinch-me moment.
A Perfect Finale on TUI Skyla:
My final evening was spent aboard TUI Skyla, and what a way to finish! The crew were incredible, the food outstanding, and the entertainment – from music bingo to a silent disco – made for a night filled with laughter and joy. I’ll never forget dancing under the stars with the illuminated bridges of Budapest as the backdrop. Each ship offered something unique, from elegance and grandeur to intimacy and fun. Together, they showcased the extraordinary range of experiences available on Europe’s rivers.
Reflecting on an Unforgettable Experience:
Overall, the CLIA River Cruise Conference was an inspiring journey that reaffirmed why I love what I do. It reminded me how special river cruising is – relaxing, immersive, and full of opportunities to see the world from a new perspective. I came home more passionate than ever to share these experiences with our customers.”
