Cornwall is now so accessible that more and more golfers are taking advantage of the warmer weather conditions that we normally enjoy compared to the rest of the country.
With direct flights from Newquay Airport (www.newquaycornwallairport.com) from many cities, direct rail links from London and the Midlands, and now motorway and dual carriageway right to the heart of the county, self-drive is so easy.
Boasting some of the very best courses to be found anywhere in Britain, golfing holidays in Cornwall offers an excellent challenge no matter what your handicap. With a superb variety choice of parkland or links courses to choose from, the day to day variations are exciting and numerous. Cornwall even boasts “the Course that Jack built” – Jack Nicholas’ first course in the UK where the Benson & Hedges European Tour event was held for many years.
My personal favourite however, is the links course at St Enodoc which enjoys great conditions all year round with stunning coastal views. St Enodoc church is found in the middle of the course and is the final resting place of Sir John Betjeman.
