At Newell’s Travel, we love celebrating the adventures our team get up to and this one is packed with colour, spice, and unforgettable moments! Kate from our Helston branch has just returned from a magical 7-night journey through Morocco with Wendy Wu Tours. Here’s her story and trust us, it will have you dreaming of your own Moroccan adventure…
“From the moment we landed in Morocco, the trip was a feast for the senses!
Marrakech Magic and Beyond:
Our adventure began in Marrakech, where the intoxicating mix of sights, sounds, and smells was unlike anywhere else. We wandered through the Majorelle Garden, a kaleidoscope of colour once owned by Yves Saint Laurent, explored hidden corners of the medina, and watched the buzzing Djamaa El Fna Square come alive as the sun went down. The food? Tagines, fresh salads, and fruity desserts bursting with flavour every bite felt like a celebration.
From there, we hit the road to Casablanca and stood in awe before the Hassan II Mosque part of it built over the ocean! It was breathtaking. In Rabat, we soaked up history and culture before boarding the Al Boraq high-speed train to Tangier, racing across the country at 315kph. Tangier’s coastal views at Cape Spartel (where the Atlantic meets the Mediterranean) were unforgettable, and lunch at La Vue Tanger was a dream.
The Enchantment of Chefchaouen and Beyond:
Then came Chefchaouen the famous Blue City. Honestly, it felt like stepping straight into a fairytale, with every street, wall, and doorway washed in magical shades of blue. That evening we enjoyed a traditional dinner followed by a mesmerising Hadra performance – powerful spiritual music sung by women, unique to northern Morocco.
The next days were just as special: exploring the Roman ruins of Volubilis, getting hands-on with a cooking class in Fez (yes, I made my own tagine!), and even trying pottery and mosaic-making with local artisans. The perfect finale? A dazzling farewell dinner back in Marrakech, complete with belly dancers, singers, and fire eaters a night of pure magic.
A Journey to Remember:
Each place offered something different from quirky hotels in the Blue City to 4-star comfort in the bigger towns and every moment felt like a new adventure.
Even though I’d been to Morocco before, this trip completely blew me away. The high-speed train, the warmth of the people, the music, the colours, the food (oh, the food!) – it’s a country that gets under your skin in the very best way.
My top tip? Pack light clothes! The heat is intense, but it makes every rooftop sunset and cool courtyard even more blissful.
If you’re looking for a holiday full of culture, adventure, and memories that will stay with you forever, Morocco is calling and I can’t recommend this Wendy Wu journey enough.
A Huge Thank You to Wendy Wu Tours!
This adventure wouldn’t have been possible without the seamless planning and expert guidance from Wendy Wu Tours. From the high-speed train to the authentic cultural experiences and incredible dining, every detail was taken care of leaving me free to soak up Morocco in all its colour and charm. I can’t recommend them highly enough for anyone looking to explore the world with confidence and curiosity.”
