The Journey
I flew from Gatwick to Mauritius with the islands own carrier Air Mauritius, the aircraft had a great seat pitch, this helped a great deal with an overnight flight, also the in flight meals and entertainment had a great selection and choice.
Port Louis Local Market
Port louis is the main city in Mauritius, Port Louis is the home of the largest local market, where you can find fresh food items, local dishes, and lots of locally handcrafted items.
The market was buzzing and full of colour a must see.
Chamarel Waterfall
The falls are beautiful and is one of the most visited attractions in Mauritius, dropping 83m into a large amphitheatre, surrounded by dark volcanic rock and surrounded by by palm trees and coffee plants.
Chamarel Seven coloured earth
The seven Coloured Earths are a geological formation and a famous tourist attraction found in the Chamarel plain in south-western Mauritius. It is a relatively small area of sand dunes comprising sand of seven distinct colours, red, brown, violet, green, blue, purple and yellow..
Accommodation
Zilwa Attitude 4*
The Zilwa Attitude is located in the north of Mauritius near the fishing village of Grand Gaube, perched on the edge of a lagoon facing the north islands.
In Creole, Zilwa means islander, and this is the experience offered to you: an immersion in the heart of authentic Mauritius and an opportunity to live like an islander during your stay in this little corner of paradise bordering the ocean.
The attitude chain boats sustainable tourism and do not use single-use plastics and will upcycle anything they can within the resort. The hotel has 4 swimming pools, 7 restaurants, 2 bars and a spa. This hotel is in a perfect beachfront location and is perfectly suited to families.

This hotel is mainly suited to families and younger couples.
Oberoi 5*
The Oberoi Beach Resort, in my opinion, is one of my favourite hotels we visited in Mauritius; it is directly located on a white sandy beach in Turtle Bay, a natural marine park. It is spread over 80,937 square metres of lush, sub-tropical gardens, This 5-star hotel in Mauritius also has amazing views and beautiful sunsets. The accommodation has traditional thatched roofs, and restaurants serving authentic Creole and international cuisines. There was also a Touching Senses programme of daily cultural and mindfulness activities. All are complemented by warm, intuitive hospitality at our 5-star hotel in Mauritius. This hotel would be most suited to adults and families with older children.
Final Thoughts
Mauritius has stolen my heart it genuinely is an amazing island and caters to all age groups, every hotel and activity we visited would suit all different age groups. The Mauritian people welcome you with open arms and immerse you in their diverse culture and their way of living, the island is of volcanic origin, however, it is a very green island and incredibly beautiful. This island has to be on everyone’s list to visit and I can guarantee you will want to return!
