JULIE NEWMAN
SALES CONSULTANT
Firstly, I am very proud to be Cornish born and bred and have always lived locally to the Liskeard.
I have been part of the travel industry for the past 23 years and during this time I spent it being a Retail Branch Manager for The Co-Operative Travel in Liskeard, leading a very successful team before deciding to step back as a part-time Senior Travel Consultant role at Newell’s Travel in Liskeard.
I have represented the world of travel at a ABTA conference, numerous county shows and events, and have taken part in many fundraising events that included a fun skydive and a walk across Cornwall in a day.
During my time in the travel industry, I have built up a large clientele who have become more like friends than customers, which is lovely as they trust me to arrange and look after their holiday from start to finish.
Travel has always been a great passion of mine, and during my time within the travel industry I have built up extensive knowledge and experience by visiting numerous destinations. In general, I love all aspects of travel from coming across new cultures to exploring new spaces. I also love doing different holiday activities from relaxing in the sunshine to skiing in the Alps.
Favourite destination:
After visiting many countries over the years for both work and leisure, let me share some of my absolute favourite travel anecdotes.
The city of San Francisco sticks in my mind for how amazing and diverse it is. I visited Las Vegas and I really enjoyed horseback riding through the Grand Canyon there. Christmas time in New York is an experience to remember. South Africa was such a wonderful country to visit, where I visited an elephant orphanage, townships, and the magnificent Sun City. Lastly, I enjoyed the time when I made my way to all of the coasts in Spain whilst driving back to Andorra.
Where next?
I want to go to Memphis to experience the Southern Sights and Sounds tour.
Countries visited:
Thailand, America (Florida, California), Mexico, France, Guernsey, Ireland Dublin, Spain (Balearics Majorca Menorca, Ibiza, Canaries Fuerteventura, Lanzarote Gran Canaria), Malta, Portugal, Cyprus, many islands in Greece, Belgium, Egypt, Turkey, and Tunisia.
I’ve also ocean and river cruised with various cruises such as P&O, NCL, Celebrity, MSC and Royal Caribbean.
Last holiday:
My last holiday was to Portugal, and I stayed in Albufeira in the Old Town.
It was very quaint with its cobbled streets. Around the square, you will find open-air restaurants, cafes, and bars where you can take a break after browsing the local shops.
As you might know, the New Town is more suited to those looking to enjoy the nightlife, so if that doesn’t interest you, I recommend the beaches. I would also recommend travelling around to see different resorts around the area. In general, there is plenty to do in Portugal.
Travel tip:
Always check that your passport is within date, and be mindful of your passport’s issue date since it’s only valid for ten years (excluding any honoured extra date).
